Description

A delicate and crispy dessert filled with a nut mixture and drizzled with sweet syrup, perfect for any festive occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g Engelshaare (fine pastry strands)
  • 200 g mixed nuts (pistachios, almonds, walnuts)
  • 150 g butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • Cinnamon (optional)
  • Honey or syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Chop the nuts coarsely and mix with cinnamon if desired.
  2. Separate the Engelshaare and brush generously with melted butter.
  3. Add a layer of the nut mixture on the pastry and roll carefully.
  4. Cut the roll into even pieces and place in a buttered baking dish.
  5. Heat the water and sugar in a pot until syrupy.
  6. Pour the hot syrup over the arranged rolls.
  7. Bake at 180 °C for about 30 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. Drizzle honey or syrup over the finished dish before serving.

Notes

Make the nut mixture and dough a day in advance for convenience. Osmaliyeh can also be prepared in an air fryer at 160 °C for 20-25 minutes.
